ESNET Conference in Chisinau announces the Portal of the Project is ONLINE

The Conference took place as part of the Group of Activities 2 / Activity 2.2 "Increase the sector cooperation by setting up the Black Sea Safety Network / Launch of the Seismic safety Net(work) Web Portal" . The aim of the action was to create a platform for long-term cooperation among the stakeholders in the participating countries, in the field of preventing, monitoring and intervention in case of earthquakes.
The web portal that was inaugurated in this conference is just one component of the platform, alongside this being also the ESNET Network already created and the monitoring and early warning software and communication tool (e-group), work in progress.The meeting was organized by Moldavian Project Partner, the Institute of Geology and Seismology of the Academy of Science of the Republic of Moldova. Participants were Turkish IPA Implementing Project Partner International Blue Crescent Relief and Development Foundation, Romanian ENPI Project Partner National Institute of Research and Development for Earth Physics, Bulgarian Project Partner National Institute of Geophysics, Geology and Geography – Bulgarian Academy Sciences.The meeting was also attended by the invited ESNET Network Member Institutions representatives.

After opening remarks given by Dr. V. Alkaz (Director IGS ASM) and Dr.Eng. C. Ionescu (General Manager NIEP) the agenda included presentations regarding general aspects regarding webportal functionalities (Dr. Stefan Florin BALAN) and also more technical aspects and way of using this internet tool (Dr. Dragos TATARU). Step by step each module of the web portal was presented, underling main structure, functionalities, possible and targeted users and the main information that brings. Bellow there are print screens of the web portal Homepage and Seismicity Module.
As any other project website, the information about the objectives, estimated results, actions, partners and timeline are gathered in the ABOUT THE PROJECT menu.Brief and detail reports about the past project meeting with relevant information and suggestive pictures could be found in CONFERENCES menu. A place for relevant project documents organized in specific categories (ex: Strategies, Research, Internal Reports, etc.) are accessible in the DOCUMENTS menu. This will be continuously updated by partners and other authenticated users. It will be a place for project related documents useful for researchers, stakeholders and other interested parties.The core of this web portal is the Seismicity module. Still in an early and developing stage, the module displays a map with earthquakes located in the Black Sea region (and not only) using the shared ESNET monitoring network. A list of located events is also available and also a search event option menu to apply specific search criteria.
For authenticated users the seismicity module allow to see some more information regarding the seismic vulnerability associated to an event as well as shake and intensity maps. Different GIS layers as the one comprising monitoring seismic station locations or geologic faults are also available.
